Our Story

Takoda Prep is a contract alternative high school that focuses on helping students advance in reading, writing and mathematics, while maintaining a strong connection to American Indian Culture. Takoda Prep provides a unique small classroom environment, which provides the ability for more individualized attention. Students may also maintain a connection to their home school for extracurricular activities.

Menlo Academy

Our Story

Menlo Park Academy provides a high school diploma in a safe, supportive, learning community that recognizes the social/emotional needs and the learning differences amongst our students. Our 9-12th graders, (ages 14-21), experience small classes, support from an advisor, and guidance for planning beyond high school. Afterschool programming, job skills, and counseling services are available for our students.

Center School

Our Story

Na-way-ee means “The Center” and focuses on Native American education. With a strong commitment to alternative education and serving American Indian youth, NAWAYEE Center School evolved from an informal drop-in service to what it is today – a MDE State Approved Alternative Program (SAAP) and MPS contract alternative urban high school focusing on American Indian youth in grades 7 through 12 (ages 12 to 21) and employing a culturally focused, placed-based experiential pedagogy to teach all subjects from an indigenous perspective.

Our Story

Volunteers Of America High School

Our Story

Volunteers of America High School is a contract alternative program serving Minneapolis Public School Students. VOA HS specializes in helping students to envision a hopeful and successful future. The program is geared toward students who desire small class sizes, college and career preparation, a positive academic social climate, a diverse school community and intensive student support. VOA HS emphasizes relationship and trust building to provide a safe learning environment for all students. VOA HS also provides English Language Learners with supportive programming and scheduling. A key feature of our school is experiential learning in the natural areas of MN and a separate Independent Study program.
