Welcome to the Metropolitan Federation of Alternative Schools.

The Metropolitan Federation of Alternative Schools is an alliance of 11 community-based organizations that operate 14 small alternative school sites in the Twin Cities area.  All Federation schools are accredited by North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.  MFAS is a nonprofit organization providing member services, including the accountability project, NWEA-MAP assessment, lead teacher and directors’ meetings, and staff development.  Services to students include college and career counseling through Achieve!Minneapolis,  identification cards, driver’s education, elementary field trips, and a bowling league.
