Accomplishments of 2006 - 2007
- Working relationships were strengthened with the Minneapolis Public Schools, St. Paul Public Schools, Minnesota Department of Education, Minnesota Department of Health, Minnesota Association of Alternative Programs and the Greater Twin Cities United Way.
- MFAS became active in the International Association for Learning Alternatives (IALA).
- Future services were identified through a thorough strategic planning process.
- New ways of measuring overall student progress were researched and implemented based on the Accountability Project.
- The MFAS legislative platform was shared with key state lawmakers.
- National accreditation was maintained through a site visit conducted by representatives of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
- Tobacco prevention efforts were implemented throughout the Federation.
- Roughly 2,500 students and staff from 13 schools received photo ID cards.
- An equipment resource room and MFAS website were maintained.
- Monthly lead teacher and board meetings improved on-going communication.
- Elementary schools received funding for educational field trips.
- Seven Driver's Education sessions were held and over 135 students completed the training.
- More than 100 students participated in the Bowling league.
Statistics for the 2006 - 2007 School Year
- K - 12 average daily enrollment was 1800 students
- Overall attendance rate was 85%
- 85% were students of color
- 80% of students were low income
- 28% of students had limited English proficiency
- 15% of students required Special Education services
- More than 250 seniors graduated
- Over 100 graduates will attend post-secondary school in Fall 2007
